Paul Smith Combines Next Season's Menís And Womenís Fashion Shows

Hark to a new streamlined vision.

Sir Paul Smith is the latest prominent designer to follow in the footsteps of brands like Gucci and Burberry, combining the men’s and women’s shows into one single showcase during fashion week. For Smith, this was a natural step, as his women’s collection always had a direct design association with the men’s and a traditional focus on tailoring, making the double showcase equally meaningful.

Notably, this announcement comes at a time of global Paul Smith retail expansion, with recent openings in Paris, Sydney and Tokyo. Not only that but with the recent streamline of the brand into two key lines (instead of seven)—luxury line Paul Smith and the recently launched contemporary collection, PS by Paul Smith, combining the shows also precipitates the focus on the design and delivers a clearer brand message.

As Smith says with his trademark enthusiasm: “As an independent business, we can be very agile and address the changes in the evolving market in interesting ways. I’m excited to be taking the women’s catwalk show to join the men’s in the heart of Paris to where it all began in the seventies. Exciting times ahead!”

Looks like we’ll be getting double the fun come January.

Scheduled for January 22, 2017, the show will close Paris men’s fashion week and open Paris Couture.
