The Brand To Look Out For At Boutique Fairs 2018

From multi-label to own-label.

It’s only been a year since it opened but Monument Lifestyle is already becoming more than your average run-of-the-mill store. The multi-label concept store and café has taken up residence along Duxton Road since March last year and is probably Singapore’s version of New York City’s Saturdays store along Crosby Street. The mix of apparel and lifestyle objects at Monument Lifestyle comes straight from surf-central city California—a place founders Dustin Ramos and Iris Sangalang have once called home.

Apart from the custom Deus Ex Machina surfboards and the carefully curated selection of American menswear basics the likes of Faherty and Alex Mill, Monument Lifestyle has now embarked on its own menswear line. Dubbed 'Duxton' after the road it's situated at, the idea is to create clothes that are not only comfortable but practical as well.

The clothes are designed in Singapore with fabrics sourced from Japan and then made in Los Angeles. But essentially, the fashion is conceptualised through Monument Lifestyle’s interactions with the crowd it attracts. The unanimous concerns that they expressed regarding comfort and fit were taken into consideration when creating Duxton, filling a gap that the brands stocked at Monument Lifestyle couldn’t address. Think comfortable pocket T-shirts, breezy tropical shirts and slim-fit chinos that could very well be new essential pieces in your wardrobe, especially when prices range from $75 to $150.

Embodying the cool indie spirit it seems to project, Monument Lifestyle is launching Duxton exclusively at this year’s Boutique Fairs—the bi-annual gathering of some of the best local artisans in Singapore. No fanfare, no exclusive shindig; just a chill affair to preview the new line and make pre-orders to collect the pieces in May when Duxton is launched in its entirety.

Check out Duxton by Monument Lifestyle at Boutiques Fair, 16 – 18 March 2018 at Level 2, The F1 Pit Building.
