Tomas Maier’s 15th anniversary as Creative Director of Bottega Veneta and the 50th anniversary of the house since its foundation in Vicenza, saw a combined S/S17 show at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan this past September. The exclusive luxury brand that made its name with its famous handwoven Intrecciato leather bags and accessories, says that the move is a natural evolution for a label known for equally strong men’s and women’s RTW collections.

The Bottega Veneta universe is built on both genders. As a consequence, showing both women and men together is an organic move that follows the evolution of Tomas Maier’s creative vision.

The move isn’t all that surprising if you consider the value proposition of combining both shows. One thing’s for sure, Bottega Veneta won’t be the last brand to join the Spring-Summer and Autumn-Winter single-show bandwagon, but as to which new streamlined runway show model works best? Only time will tell.
