Five First Date Deal-Breakers, According To A Bunch Of Single People
Number one is probably your biggest addiction.

Well, thanks to the guys over at Plenty Of Fish we now know what you definitely shouldn't do. They surveyed 2,000 singletons to find out their top 5 first date deal breakers.
Some of which led us to wonder who these people are dating – but we have a feeling we've probably been guilty of the number one deal breaker at some point or other.
5 | Having Sweet FA In Common
This one can't be helped as such - it either is or it isn't, and you'll probably know before you get the first round in.
We've all been on a (number) of dates like this thanks to Tinder, and not surprisingly, 9% of the singles said having nothing in common was a deal breaker.
The conversation just doesn't flow and you are left feigning interest in the route of whatever bus route they took to meet you. Do both of you a favour and get out.
4 | The Ex
Of all the things to talk about on a first date, trust us, your ex is not one of them, and 10% of singles agreed.
Sure, at some point in the relationship, you'll do the obligatory swapping of stories and immediately regret it, but no-one wants to hear in-depth details of your last break-up when they've just met you.
It's a turn-off for 2 reasons - it reeks of desperation, and the person sitting opposite you is probably thinking they'll be the next person you are slagging off in a month or two.
3 | Being Rude
As a basic rule of thumb, don't be a dick.
One thing that apparently a lot of people need to be reminded of, as 12% of people said their date being straight up rude was a turn-off.
This bizarrely includes swearing at them? No, that isn't what treat 'em mean actually means.
2 | Smoking
If it wasn't bad enough you've been left out in the cold in your designated smoking areas, it also turns out that the habit is an instant deal breaker for 15% of singles.
A crafty cigarette break is an instant mood killer, unless your date also partakes that is.
1 | Checking Your Phone
Above passive smoking and flipping the bird, it turns out basking in the glow of your phone is the ultimate snub with 19% of singles saying it was a no-go.
So let us introduce you to flight mode because let's be honest, no-one needs to get a hold of you that urgently.
