As Singaporeans, we know first-hand how pragmatic the world can be. And as members of the human race, we’re given a front row seat to what looks like the breaking of the seals, given the current state of politics and social unrest in the world. But the Singapore International Festival of Arts (SIFA) wants to quicken your spirit with a focus on “Singapore expressions”, by engaging Singapore artists to produce 90 unique events in collaboration with international partners.

Patrons, for example, can experience the filmmaking process by being part of K Rajagopal’s short film, Lizard on the Wall (pictured), where the final product will be screened by the festival’s end. Eisner-nominee, Sonny Liew, will illustrate an all-new graphic novel in Becoming Graphic; while Open Kitchens will see 21 home cooks invite the audience into their kitchens to cook and sup over a conversation.

SIFA 2017 will run from June 28 to September 9. Tickets are already available for purchase at Sistic.
