Study Confirms That Nobody Gives A Damn About Your Holiday Pictures
Sorry, 'Rome with Melissa 2012'
The time has come to face a fact that we've all been in denial about for some time: nobody cares about our holiday photos. Nobody. Delete your mini-break archive, send the lads trip album to trash. Will the last person please turn the lights out?
The research carried out by Aviva found that 73 per cent of people admitted to getting annoyed when they see other people's holiday snaps online.
Imagine how they must feel about the pictures you post when you're no longer even on the holiday and caption them with the desperate plea of 'take me back'.
That said, 77 per cent of people still post holiday pictures despite knowing most people don't want to see them. One in five of posts the images to show off whereas one in ten do it to make others jealous, proving social media brings out the most narcissistic and awful tendencies in all of us.
We don't care about other peoples holidays, we know they don't care about ours and yet here we are: filter, hashtag, upload, wait in silence.
Adam Beckett of Aviva commented that: "Long gone are the days when the first-time British holidaymakers would see their snaps was in the chemist after they got home."
That said, even though technological advances mean we no longer have to fire up the overhead projector to show Mark and Sue from next-door what we ate in Corfu, we're still subjecting our people to images of holidays they didn't go on and don't give a f**k about.
The worst rated shot was 'hotdog legs' a seminal composition which will likely be looked back on as the 'Girl with a Pearl Earring' of our time.
Love putting up holiday snaps? Then ignore the haters. If they can't handle you at your most sunburnt, they don't deserve you at your best.
