Michelle Theseira

She'd rather talk about books but, for now, we'll have her tell a joke.

Joke: Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton were in a plane crash. Who survived?

We're guilty of judging a book by its cover. Case in point: your first glance at Michelle Theseira and you think you already know all there is to know about her but to do so, you might miss out on a hell of a conversation with Theseira, especially when it comes to literature. The 25-year-old used to read a lot when she was younger, but education, modelling, and now, a job in marketing events took precedence. However, she's catching up with a vengeance. Her current read? The Fountainhead. "It's thick but interesting," she says, "and I'm not done with the book to answer if I'm an objectivist or not." What other books are you into? "Jane Eyre. I've read it four or five times. It's depressing, dark and brooding, but I love it." Like Amazon, we toss her a recommendation based on her interests: Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. Theseira's eyes widen. "[Shelley] invented the science-fiction genre with that book, right?" In nerd and gamer culture, there are people who lambast female fans, claiming they're not "true" nerds or gamers. Don't they know that sci-fi was started by a woman?" Word. That sort of thinking doesn't do anyone, both men and women, any good. Social constructs are for the birds, man.
