Aimee Cheng-Bradshaw

When not catwalking or burning up the dancefloor, you'll find Aimee Cheng-Bradshaw telling a joke.

The joke: On a hot steamy date, a chicken and an egg are fooling around in bed. After a while, the chicken rolls onto its back and falls asleep. The egg looks at the chicken and mutters, “Well, I guess we answered that question then.”

That’s how Aimee Cheng-Bradshaw talks. Like a Tommy gun spitting bullets or a ticker tape of words smooshing together on a train during rush hour.

She knows this, and sometimes, her stream of consciousness halts for an apology below a whisper: “I feel like I’m talking very fast. I’m sorry.” None is needed, but it seems like she’s trying to make full use of the moment. Carpe diem and all that.

In case you’ve been living under a rock, Cheng-Bradshaw, only 20, finished third in the recently concluded third cycle of Asia’s Next Top Model.

She was also the host for Channel 5’s The Dance Floor. “When I first auditioned, I didn’t expect to get it. It’s really nice, but hosting is different,” says Cheng-Bradshaw. “You have to present yourself—and I’d never emceed be-fore. The production team were great about helping me, for example, know where the cameras were.” She’s venturing into uncharted territory, but that’s how the young are programmed.

Next thing: university. Cheng-Bradshaw plans to take up a veterinary degree and live alone overseas. The toughest thing she’s expected to do? “Pay my rent and bills,” Cheng-Bradshaw replies meekly. Yikes. We know how you feel.
