One of New York's Coolest Clothing Brands Wants You to Have Great Looking Hair

Saturdays NYC has released a lineup of three new styling products.

Long gone are the days when styling your hair meant globbing on a ton of greasy pomade or sticky drugstore gel. Today, men are far more discerning when it comes to what they put in their locks. Which is part of the reason why menswear brand Saturdays NYC decided to launch a lineup of three new high-end haircare products.

"It was a natural progression for Saturdays to venture into grooming," said Saturdays co-founder Morgan Collett about the new products, which include petroleum-free wet wax, grooming cream, and a beeswax-based clay pomade. "This is only the beginning, and we are excited to grow this range for both men and women."

We spoke with Collett and Saturdays' other co-founder Colin Tunstall about why they decided to venture into the world of grooming, and how these three new made-in-the-USA styling products—each of which is now available for $24 in all Saturdays NYC stores and on saturdaynyc.com—are just the beginning.

On why they decided to get into grooming products:

Colin: We've always carried men's grooming products at our stores so it felt like a natural progression to enter this market. As we have grown as a brand, we wanted to put our own personal elements into what essential grooming products should look and perform like.

On how they're differentiating themselves from the rest of the market:

Morgan: It was important for us to offer the same luxury feeling and finish as any other leading products. What differentiates us from others is that we offer the highest quality ingredients without damaging your hair with harsh chemicals. Our pomades contain pure ingredients such as bentonite, which is mineral enriching for the hair, and hydrogenated castor oil, which works as a non-sticky wax to hold shape.

On their favourite thing about the grooming line:

Colin: The packaging of our pomades was just as important to us as the actual product. We wanted to create something that would have good shelf appeal, and so we took our time searching for the right manufacturers. Eventually, we found the perfect matte black pots in France.

On which of the products they use on themselves:

Colin: Out of the three, I like to run the grooming cream through my hair in the morning. It's the lightest weight out of them all, but still provides some texture.

Morgan: I use the clay pomade daily for a matte look.
