Introducing Loewe 001
Christened 'The Morning After', the 170-year-old house has just issued a scent that is a poetic allegory to sex.
LOEWE 001 opens with a whiff of tangerine and bergamot that later mellows into middle tones of sandalwood. It’s a fragrance that will find favour with those fond of woody scents—cue basal notes of Cedar and Musk, yet it retains its lightness. You might have made a New Year's resolution to sail through the year smelling legit, so ditch the stuffiness that an overpowering fragrance evokes and keep it alluringly seductive with this sensual newcomer.
Both Man and Woman carries the same top and middle notes, but separate at their core tone, with Vanilla and Jasmine for the femme. This deliberate divergence is a cue to the separateness of two bodies. Man and Woman being disparate, even in oneness.
Impressed on the packaging you’ll find biological images of botany. These are artworks by German photographer Karl Blossfeldt. Drawing inspiration from Blossfeldt was only apt given that the founder of LOEWE, Enrique Loewe Roessberg, was himself German, though the company founded its headquarters in Madrid, Spain.
Blossfeldt constructed his own home-made cameras, capable of amplifying his botanical subjects up to thirty times of their actual size, thereby communicating the exquisite architecture of flora and fauna.
‘Design occurs naturally’ was his ethos—and it struck a chord with Anderson.
The LOEWE 001 comes at the advent of a growing LOEWE universe. Anderson has steered the brand to global expansion in the last three years—launching Casa LOEWE (read: Home LOEWE) across Tokyo, Milan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Australia chronologically.
LOEWE 001 Man and Woman are both available in stores at #01-11/12 LOEWE Paragon, and #01-11/12 LOEWE The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands.
