There are a few brands have the everyday look down pat. Club Monaco’s relaxed, mix-and-match men’s collection is aimed at making it as easy as possible for guys to look good while conveniently shopping in just one store. There are no loud logos, the cuts fit the Asian sizes pretty well and the clothes have a perennial style that doesn’t date, meaning you get more bang for your buck. As the brand drops their new S/S17 collection in stores, our fashion editor-at-large, Janie Cai, picks out five pieces that’ll go the distance.

  1. White seersucker slim-fit shirt

It’s surprisingly not easy to find a nice white shirt that isn’t made for the office. This one has a slim band-collar that makes it look less stuffy and the seersucker texture is a nice touch.

  1. Pastel pink linen button-down shirt

A pale pink shirt is extremely versatile—this button-collar version is smart without being too preppy. And linen is a good, lightweight alternative to the heavier oxford broadcloth that most button-downs come in. Pair with grey denim and white sneakers for the weekend, or with a navy suit for the formal work week.

  1. Wool blazer in washed red

Looking to get a new jacket? This classic two-button with front patch pockets comes in a what the Esquire team likes to call a ‘faded burgundy’ (feel free to quote us). Hugely versatile, it also goes well with a long-sleeved T-shirt—try it with a striped T-shirt and jeans, and ace that weekend brunch.

  1. White cotton chinos

Crisp and slim-cut so they’ll fit nicely without being too tight (a mortal sin for white trousers) or too baggy (MC Hammer called and he wants his pants back). Try it with a blue denim shirt and a pair of leather sandals.

  1. Chambray washed red shorts

It’s hot in Singapore, shorts are something you’ll be wearing…a lot. This pair of linen, tailored shorts has a nice length- neither too short nor too long, so you’ll be able to wear it all the way from town to the beach without missing a single style step.
