Calvin Klein's 'First Plus Size Model' Is Stirring Up Controversy

Social media has erupted.

Back in 2014 Cosmo wrote about Myla Dalbesio, a size 10 model who landed a major advertising campaign with Calvin Klein lingerie.

At the time, Elle pointed out in an interview with the model that the fashion industry would probably still consider her to be 'plus-size'  even though she's obviously not.

In fact, Myla has referred to herself as an "inbetweenie", in an interview with the TODAY show, saying: "I am one of many girls who are 'inbetweenies.' We're not skinny enough to be straight-size, like these size zero and size two girls, and we're not big enough to be plus-size."

And now people are getting angry about the whole situation again, since Coronation Street actress Catherine Tyldesley posted a meme of the campaign on Twitter.

To be clear, Calvin Klein never referred to Myla as 'plus-size' and the text accompanying her image was not made by them. But that hasn't stopped the anger erupting all over social media.

Myla told InStyle last year that the controversy was a good thing for the future of the fashion industry. "This whole controversy is starting a greater conversation towards more inclusive fashion", she said.
