It’s now been made official; 36-year-old Anthony Vaccarello of Versace’s diffusion line, Versus, will take the helm effective immediately. The news was announced yesterday in Paris.

Of his appointment as creative director: "I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the history of this extraordinary house," Vaccarello said in a statement. Francesca Bellettini, president and CEO of Saint Laurent noted that Vaccarello was the right choice, as he "impeccably balances elements of provocative femininity and sharp masculinity in his silhouettes.”

Vaccarello will oversee both men’s and women’s lines, the brand’s image and the couture line revived by Slimane, and the Belgian designer's eponymous line will be put on hold in order to dedicate full attention to his new role. His first collection with Saint Laurent will be in Spring 2017, presented at Paris Fashion Week.

Vaccarello is known for bold skirtlines and has a roster of celebrity clients like Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez and Gwyneth Paltrow.
