The Capsule Collection That Launched With A Bloc Party
MR PORTER collaborates with 12 designers for a special California-inspired collection
What better way to kick off the launch of a capsule collection inspired by the Golden State than with a massive party at an LA Motel with the who’s who of the downtown style set in full attendance.
Celebrating the “Made in California” collection—a series of 12 exclusive capsule collections inspired by the West Coast by brands with California roots like Amiri, The Elder Statesman, Golden Bear, James Perse, John Elliott, Mollusk, Noon Goons, Outerknown, Rick Owens, Second/Layer, Simon Miller, and Stüssy—the Hollywood Premiere Motel was taken over and transformed into a reverberating music box of LA’s most eclectic group of designers, stylists, rappers, artists, athletes and models.
Articles of clothing from each brand were hung out of the motel bedroom windows that looked into the parking lot where designers, alongside 700 other attendees danced to a DJ set by Mike WiLL Made-It. Leaning on a vintage Porsche 1600 marked with a California “MR PORTER” stamp. The motel was turned into a neon-light-lit space with bedrooms to explore different activations, including an arcade room, a makers’ room featuring customized patches by Lot, Stock and Barrel, and a specialty gift shop with MR PORTER ashtrays, lighters, stickers and other branded takeaways.
For those who missed the party, fret not. You can still get your hands on a piece of the action online—only Matt Bomer won’t be there to sign it.
