John Ray Exits Alfred Dunhill Ltd
Creative director of the British label leaves after three years with dunhill.
“I would like to thank John for his dedication, support and his significant contribution in developing the dunhill London brand. Our business strategy remains focused on building the ultimate destination brand for gentleman."

Scottish-born John Ray, who has been the creative director of dunhill since 2013, showed his last collection for the label just this January. His A/W16 collection was inspired by British style and tailoring in all its sartorial glory, a collection that will hit the stores later this year. Though his tenure has been relatively brief, it comes in the wake of other big moves in the industry, noticeably Alessandro Sartori leaving Berluti and Stefano Pilati saying goodbye to Ermenegildo Zegna, both of which happened just earlier in the month.
And his designs were not the only thing that drew on quintessential britishness; Ray’s parting statement too had the cadence of a true gent, “It has been a privilege and a pleasure to work with the iconic dunhill London brand. I will follow dunhill with interest as they continue to build on their unique and gentlemanly heritage.”
