S/S17 sees a new generation of inspired characters channeling Kris Van Assche’s vision for Dior Homme. And what a vision—quirky, masculine, cool, unfettered and smashingly stylish. These four men have spades of attitude and make the ensembles wholly their own. The campaign images form a stunning visual summation of KVA’s Dior man as is a multi-talented, multi-faceted personality. Shot by Willy Vanderperre and styled by Olivier Rizzo in the studio and streets of Paris, the men reflect a subversive wave of creativity within music, cinema, and fashion. Spanning generations and disciplines, their diverse backgrounds converge to channel the new wave spirit of the season’s “do it yourself” inflected wardrobe.
The international cast sees the return of rapper A$AP Rocky in the streets of Paris rocking a floral patchwork by Japanese artist Toru Kamei. Actor Rami Malek, on the other hand, brings a sober, cinematic edge to the series in a sequence of studio portraits featuring the S/S17 collection’s signature eyelet and lace-up outerwear pieces.
From the US to the UK, British singer Boy George sports raw-edge harness tailoring and Toru Kamei souvenir badges, tempered with his own distinct brand of blitz kid pop panache. Finally, model Ernest Klimko completes the portfolio in a look that balances heritage tailoring with a utopian sense of refined grunge. As far as campaigns go, this one’s looking pretty damn sleek.
