Denim, if treated well and given due consideration during the design process, will make for an eternal style companion. Inspiration is key here, as each piece both respects the original indigo-dyed cotton twill whilst, at the same time, maintaining a cut, shape and style that is both perrenial and delightful. Think of these pieces as investments—trends come and go but these will be around for the long haul.

1 | Blue Blue Japan Camp-Collar Printed Crepe Shirt

The insouciant camp-collar is back for S/S16 but far from being just a fad, the boxy cut and soft material of this crepe shirt by Japanese label Blue Blue Japan, makes for an easy shirt that deftly threads the line between dressed up and dressed down. The Japanese-inspired print is a nod to the label’s origins, whilst breaking the monotony of the piece.

2 | Saint Laurent Classic western shirt in vintage blue cotton.

The cowboy chambray shirt has been around… well since the cowboys. And it’s entered the style canon in a big way, latching on a staple in an otherwise rotating shift of shirt styles. Wear it with a suit or pair it with faded jeans for a denim on denim look. Either way, it still looks good.

3 | Remi Relief Patchwork Cotton Bomber Jacket

We decided to list the reasons why this bomber jacket is, well, da bomb.

  1. It features a beautifully considered patchwork surface.
  2. Its design manifests as a classic bomber-style with no superfluous additions.
  3. The subtly different shades of washed-denim, chambray and twill makes this piece a classic with a twist.
  4. Functional pockets and a barest glint of hardware. The perfect summation of form and function.

4 | Timberland Smarts Mountain Coverall cotton jacket

If you’re looking for a casual jacket to take with you on your short holiday jaunts then this soft, multi-pocketed cotton shacket (that’s shirt-style jacket) from Timberland is just your thing. Throw over a tee and chinos for full day of sight-seeing—roomy pockets mean you can take all your essentials (keys, wallet, phone) with you without being bogged down by extra bags.
