Someone Found Hilariously Retro Porn On A 1987 Macintosh (NSFW)

Look how far we've come.

Porn production commenced a hot second after the invention of film production. One of the earliest surviving pornographic movies was shot in 1896; it showed a Victorian woman performing a (very tame) strip-tease. Almost 100 years later, the personal computer was invented, and right on its heels came personal computer porn.

As first noted by Gizmodo, a Reddit user recently bought an old personal computer, a 1987 Macintosh SE, off Craigslist and found a pornographic relic in a folder innocently named "America Online": an app hiding a version of MacPlayMate.

MacPlayMate was an interactive porn software created in 1986 featuring a two-dimensional sketch character named Maxie. Essentially, the user put different things into Maxie. This NSFW video can demonstrate:

The game was as groundbreaking as it was simplistic and sexist. According to Gizmodo, buyers chose Macs over PCs solely to run the hugely popular MacPlayMate software, just as critics claimed it promoted violence against women. To this day, the ethics of porn are still hotly debated, as technology gives us VR porn, porn for the blind, and, most obviously, lightening fast porn of any variety at the click and scroll of the mouse pad. No one debates that porn is ubiquitous.
