Had his life have gone a little differently, maybe Stephen Colbert could have been the most savage rapper in the hip-hop game. In three words, like he's the Hemingway of burns, Colbert can eviscerate his opponent. Imagine him on stage, microphone in hand, looking you in the eyes and calling you a Supercuts test model. How do you respond to that? You just set down your microphone and back away.
Over the last year of hosting The Late Show, Stephen Colbert has unleashed many burns. What a year it has been—full of Trumps and Clintons and Bernies and that Florida guy and that forgotten, sad Bush child. This country has needed the burns, this country was founded on burns. So Colbert delivered them in droves. And to celebrate his first year at the desk, Colbert shared a compilation of his best burns. Hope you brought some sunscreen because this fire is hot.
If that's not enough, last week, we did our own celebration of Colbert's first year, by compiling his greatest moments. Rather than focus on his many ferocious burns, we took a look at his finest monologues, interviews, jokes, and guests.
