Cooper Hefner, the youngest son of Hugh, was lucky (unlucky?) enough to grow up in the Playboy Mansion. Last year, he gave Business Insider an in-depth tour of his childhood home and now that the place has been sold, the video is re-surfacing. The above video shows the famous grotto, the lesser-known "Van Room," the grounds' zoo, and more.
"It's funny because it's such an iconic place and obviously the whole world probably sees it as one thing which is this mecca for orgies, but the reality is, for me, it has always represented a sort of Indiana Jones adventure," Hefner said of the grotto area: "Because when I was a kid there was none of that going on and I was swimming around here and that's what it was to me."
He also explains the property has a private zoo permit and that it houses all sorts of exotic birds, monkeys, and other animals. In fact, "in elementary school, we used to actually have field trips up to my house. I did not realize that that was bizarre," Hefner said.
As far as living in a house known for sex on sex on sex, Hefner said his parents, while they were still together especially, made sure he and his brother were "sheltered" from all the partying. "We weren't participating when we were 12 years old at the Midsummer's party at the Mansion," buuut "like any other 13-, 14-, 15-year-old, if you're upstairs and your parents are having a Christmas party, you're gonna sneak downstairs and try and figure out what's going on and why you're not invited to the party. Yeah, I had some of those nights."
And that's all he had to say about that! Watch Business Insider's video above.
