Man at His Best

If You Still Don't Understand Why Trump Is So Dangerous, Watch This Video

His hate-filled words echo through the years.

A Trump rally is, was, and will always be a dangerous place to find yourself. We were told Trump was merely "joking" when he derided black and Hispanic protesters, and even incited violence against them. Stop being so PC, Trump's defenders said. But violence inside and outside his rallies is incredibly common, and in many cases, white Trump voters have been caught on video doing exactly what he talked about doing.

"I'd like to punch him in the face."

"They'd be taken out on a stretcher."

This clip, which surfaced on social media, is from Ava DuVernay's Netflix documentary 13th. It splices together Trump's words and the incidents of violence at his rallies with shockingly similar footage from the Civil Rights era in America. Angry white people, primarily men, are seen pushing people of colour, punching them in the face, spitting in their faces, screaming at them. And all the while, Trump's words echo through the scenes—and the years—with a resonant sense of chaotic hatred.
