1 | Learn to bake with Dean Brettschneider
Getting baked is a relaxing exercise. But actually baking, now that will imbue a whole ‘nother level of zen. The combination of flour, salt, yeast, oil and water will yield a soft punchable matter you can take all your frustrations out on. And once it’s all well-kneaded, pop it into the oven and a while later, fresh bread greets you. Now what other activity will relax you and fill your home with a mouth-watering aroma? Join up at Dean Brettschneider’s Baking and Cooking School. These are the same guys behind the delectable goods at Baker & Cook and Plank. And trust us, you’ll definitely be the most popular guy around once you start turning up at parties with fresh homemade pizza. Did we mention there are pizza-making classes?

2 | Beer and hawker food
All tired out with cocktail bars? Totally getcha bro. Sometimes, you really need to get back to the basics, get in touch with your inner uncle, and buy bottles of Tiger at the local hawker centre with your supper. You’ve probably seen the excellent campaigns already but if you haven’t, here’s a recap:
Up till May 31, you’ll get to contribute a little to help keep the hawker culture alive when you buy a six-pack from the supermarket. 20 cents goes to Tiger Beer’s movement to save the street food culture. More of an awareness exercise? Better to buy that bottle of beer and the char kway teow and chicken rice, and have at them in situ.
3 | Buy Tod’s, for a good cause
Thinking of picking up a pair of Gomminos? Then head down on April 22-24 when Tod's host a special charity weekend for the benefit of programme D.A.W.N (Dedicated to AIDS / HIV Women’s Needs). The programme under Tan Tock Seng Hospital Community Charity Fund’s Patient Care Centre aims to look after the physical and emotional well-being of women living with HIV/AIDS, as well as provide support for their families. This weekend, a special discount will also be extended, with part of the sales being donated to D.A.W.N. So if you’ve been wanting to pick up a few new pieces for your wardrobe, then this would be the perfect time to head down and pay it forward.
Tod’s is at Paragon, 290 Orchard Road, #01-48.
