Never again will we hear the beats and thumps emanating practically in the middle of nowhere from Ture Building. Or at least not in Kallang. You’ll still get to satiate your desires for hip vibes at Kilo Lounge’s new space in Tanjong Pagar. But they’re not the only part of the Kilo brand that has gone through a facelift.
Still in the joint overlooking the Rochor river, Kilo Kallang is now enclosed and shielding you from the elements whilst still staying true to that industrial look albeit with the addition of air-conditioned comforts.
The hometown menu has also received a jolt of rejuvenation from Chef Tim Forster, who heads the Balinese outpost, and Kilo's co-founder Joshua Adjodha. Expect a focus on freshness and flavours produced from a harmonious mingling of unexpected ingredients.
Dishes attractive both to the eye and palate include their Salmon Poke with watermelon, sesame, shiso and sesame cracker (SGD18++) and Atas Lentils with jamon iberico, bacon, manche-go cheese, poached egg and fresh truffle (SGD34++). Just in case you forget that this is Singlish territory. Longtime fans of Kilo need not fear; that squid ink rice is still there.
Get that hike on and find your way back to Kallang, it’s all worth it.
Kilo Kallang is at 66 Kampong Bugis, Level M, Ture Building. For reservations visit Kilo Kitchen.
